A 13-year-old Ballakermeen student has secured his third A-level - before he has even started studying for his GCSEs.

Kenneth Brown received an A in Physics when results were released this morning, having already achieved A*s in Maths and Further Maths.

He sat his first A-level in Maths when he was just 11, before taking Further Maths the following year.

And while most of the students collecting their results at Ballakermeen High School’s Sixth Form Centre were 17 or 18, Kenneth will return to school in September to begin studying for his GCSEs.

Physics is Kenneth’s favourite subject and he said he had been expecting an A.

Speaking about his achievements, he said: ‘Well, I’m a little bit younger than everybody else. I’m 13.’

On his Physics result, Kenneth added: ‘I knew I was either going to get that or a little bit higher.’

While many of those receiving their A-level results will now be preparing for university, apprenticeships or the world of work, Kenneth’s next step will be rather different.

He will return to Ballakermeen alongside students his own age and begin his GCSE studies, already having three A-level qualifications under his belt.

Despite having tackled subjects normally studied by sixth form students several years older than him, Kenneth said he was looking forward to beginning the new school year.

His latest achievement was celebrated by his teachers, parents, sister and friends, who gathered with him as he received his result.

Kenneth’s unusual route through his studies means he will begin working towards his GCSEs having already secured two A*s and an A at A-level.
