The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for gales.
The forecast:
Very windy this morning with strong to gale force south-westerly winds, and gusting potentially up to 55 to 60 mph at first.
The winds will swing to a strong westerly later this morning and then slowly ease further during the afternoon.
Staying generally dry but often rather cloudy with perhaps some sunny intervals later.
Temperatures rising to about 18°C at best.
Dry and bright for much of Friday but a few showers may develop later, then spells of rain during the night. The winds mainly a moderate south-westerly and with highs of 16 or 17°C.
Outbreaks of rain during the morning on Saturday clearing to become dry and bright for the afternoon with sunny intervals. Mainly moderate south-westerly winds and highs of 17°C again.
