The entirety of the A18 Mountain Road has been closed following a fuel spillage this morning (Wednesday).

Isle of Man Constabulary has urged motorists to avoid the area and use alternative routes while the incident is dealt with.

The closure is likely to have impacted commuters travelling between Douglas and Ramsey during the morning rush hour.

It is currently unclear how long the Mountain Road will remain shut.

Police have not provided further details about the extent of the fuel spillage or when the route is expected to reopen.
