Douglas’ Christmas Lights event will take place on a Saturday for the first time this year as part of a new all-day format.

Douglas City Council has confirmed the event will be held on Saturday, November 21, with organisers promising more opportunities for people to enjoy the city centre before the lights are switched on.

The changes are aimed at encouraging visitors to spend longer in Douglas and supporting local businesses during the festive period.

The event previously took place on a Thursday, but late-night shopping will continue, with five late-night Thursday shopping opportunities planned before Christmas.

The council said the new format would create more opportunities to visit businesses and take part in festive activities.
