The TT Zero races are not planned to take place in 2022 or 2023.

Enterprise Minister Alex Allinson has said that the department is looking into TT 2024 but there is a slow uptake in electric motorbikes.

This was in response to a question from Garff MHK Daphne Caine on if the department would support the return of the races.

He said: ’With regards to TT Zero, in 2019 the department announced that there would be a two-year moratorium for this class due to a number of factors, not least the slow rate of development of clean emissions sports bikes within the motorcycle industry and the low number of participants in the event.

’TT Zero is not planned to return to the schedule in either 2022 or 2023.

’In terms of what happens in the TT in 2024, the department is certainly looking at other possibilities. Whilst there’s been a slow uptake in terms of electric motorbikes, there is increasing emphasis on hydrogen powered motorbikes.’
