Ramsey Commissioners says it’s ‘crucial’ for residents in the north to be able to access government services without having to travel to Douglas.

Chair Sandra Cottam-Shea believes there is a ‘comprehensive’ third sector and public sector but often the disconnect can leave people stuck.

A scheme will see the town be used as a ‘regional hub’ for government services including digital support, signposting and assistance with government forms and applications.

Mrs Cottam-Shea said the town hall is there to ‘serve’ the residents of Ramsey.

‘It's a central contact point and it makes sense,’ she said. ‘Any contact with government authorities entities would originate from here.

‘The library is a perfect place for information, from leaflets to face-to-face meetings. It is all about what the community needs.’
