Police have warned of icy conditions on the island’s roads this morning (Saturday) and have advised people to allow extra time for their journeys.

Posting on social media, a spokesperson for the Isle of Man Constabulary said: ‘We have already dealt with multiple RTCs on the roads this morning.

‘There is ice on the roads but they are passable with care when driving to the conditions.

‘Please take care and give extra time for journeys, particularly in the south of the island.’

A weather warning for snow and ice is in place across the island until midday on Monday with the wintry conditions expected to continue across the weekend.

The Mountain Road has been closed since Thursday evening and is unlikely to open again until Monday.
