Juan McGuinness MHK has been appointed chair of the Public Services Commission by Chief Minister Chris Thomas.

Rob Mercer MLC will continue as vice chair.

Mr McGuinness will also become vice chair of the Public Sector Pensions Authority by virtue of his new role, while Mr Mercer will remain the employer representative on the authority.

The Ard-Shirveishagh said: ‘I am grateful to both Mr McGuinness and Mr Mercer for their commitment to this important work.

‘The Public Services Commission has wide-ranging responsibilities for the management and development of the public service, and its work is critical in supporting the Office of Human Resources to maintain an effective, well-managed and motivated workforce.’
