A section of the A1 Peel Road in Braddan will close overnight for three nights next week to allow a number of dead and dying roadside trees to be felled.

The Department of Infrastructure said the road would be closed to through traffic from 6pm until no later than 6am on Tuesday, September 8, Wednesday, September 9 and Thursday, September 10.

The closure will run between the junction with Ashlar Drive and the roundabout at Braddan Church, adjacent to the trading estates at Snugborough.

The work is being carried out to allow trees affected by ash dieback to be safely removed, with the Department warning that the trees pose a future risk of falling into the carriageway.

The overnight closures have been deliberately scheduled to minimise disruption to schools, commercial traffic and commuters.

Depending on progress each night, the temporary closure may be lifted before the maximum permitted time of 6am.
