The Friends of the Isle of Man Wurlitzer will stage their next Met the Wurlitzer event on Tuesday.
Spokesman for the Friends Peter Jordan said: ’The recent events of this kind that we have staged have been quite successful and we’re hoping that, as this particular one coincides with the start of the Easter holidays, some younger musicians will come along and find out what this magnificent instrument is all about. If you can play a keyboard instrument then come and have a go with the Wurlitzer - who knows, it may be just the instrument for you!
’We also know that there are holidaymakers back on the island now too, and we hope that some of them will come along and see us - they will be very welcome.’
The Wurlitzer, which began life in the City Cinema in Leicester in 1929, is now housed in the Villa Marina Arcade on Douglas Promenade, just by the Gaiety Theatre.
The event on Tuesday runs from 10am to noon, and admission is free.
In the afternoon, from 1.30 pm to 4pm, there will be an informal playing session when various local organists will display their skills at the console.
Refreshments will be available and admission is free.
