Last month was the coolest September in the Isle of Man for 30 years.
The island’s meteorologists have been examining the statistics for the month.
They found that rainfall totalled 107.3mm, 43% more than normal.
The wettest day was the 27th, with 17.3mm at Ronaldsway but more than double that fell on the hills, causing some flooding.
For the third consecutive month temperatures were below average. The mean temperature measured 13.4°C compared to the long term mean of 13.7°C.
The highest the thermometer reached was just 17.6°C, the coolest September has remained since 1987. However, night time temperatures were relatively mild with no frosts recorded.
Sunshine was slightly below normal, with 133 hours during the month. The sunniest day was the 25th, with 10.8 hours.
The mean wind speed measured 13.5mph slightly above the long term mean of 12.9mph. The strongest winds were recorded late on the 10th with gusts of 43mph.
There were also four days when fog was observed.
