The coastguard was called out to help people who became cut off by the tide at the Tower of Refuge.

Douglas Coastguard was diverted this evening from its routine TT evening patrols by its marine operations centre.

Three people were cut off by the tide on the Tower of Refuge as the coastguard was close, so it was able to be on scene quickly and oversee their safe return to the beach.

It said: 'Douglas Coastguard advises that if you must decide to walk out to the Tower of Refuge that you check the tide times before you set off or better still wait until the organised walk, which takes place this year on Friday, September 1 at teatime.'
