There are now two vacant seats on the board of Ramsey Commissioners.

Following Eric Corkish’s resignation earlier this month, Pat Ayres has now stood down.

The resignations are not related.

The mid-term resignations (both have two years’ still to run) are classed under the Local Elections Act as ’casual vacancies’ and require a specific procedure to be followed: for a valid election to be held, two local government electors from the district authority must give notice in writing requesting that an election be held.

It is understood that this is in hand and that Notice of Casual Vacancy in each Ward (North and South) will shortly be advertised.
