Mayor of Douglas Debbie Pitts helped charity Praxis Care launch its Unmasking Mental Health campaign at the town hall.

Praxis Care arrived in the Isle of Man in 2000 and started a home support scheme.

It now operates six schemes in the areas of mental health and learning disabilities, in partnership with the Department of Health and Social Care.

Over the coming year Praxis Care will be holding awareness and fundraising events under the Unmasking Mental Health theme.

The aim is to combat how people experiencing mental health issues often try to mask their problems and carry on with everyday life, rather than talk openly about what is happening to them because of the stigma associated with mental illness.
