Work produced by members of the Art Cellar - an informal art workshop - has been displayed at Port St Mary town hall.

Some 54 works produced by the group’s 14 members were displayed for the group’s first exhibition.

’It went really well,’ said Angela Patchett, who runs the group. ’There were lots of positive comments.’

She added: ’We refer to ourselves as people who paint as, despite there being a huge amount of talent amongst the participants, the focus is on participation and enjoyment.

’The group has been going nearly a year now and is very successful and well attended. Strong friendships have been forged and there is a fantastic sense of belonging amongst the members where everyone looks out for each other. One lady last week made the comment: "I love this group".

’I am very proud to be running the sessions, but owe the group’s existence to the dedication and loyalty of the group who were instrumental in setting it up.’

The group meets every Wednesday morning from 9.30am to 12.30pm at The West Room at Port St Mary town hall.

The charge of £10 per session includes tea and biscuits and basic art materials.
