Isle of Man athlete David Mullarkey produced another impressive performance in his latest race as a Great Britain representative at the weekend.

The 26-year-old former Castle Rushen student was competing at the World Road Running Championships in Copenhagen on Saturday.

Lining up in the men's 5km race, the Manx athlete finished in a fine 21st place.

His time of 13 minutes and 31 seconds in the Danish capital was a personal best on the road, placing him comfortably inside the top half of a high-quality international field that included Norwegian star Jakob Ingebrigtsen among many other big names.

Mullarkey was the eighth European finisher and the sole Great Britain representative in the 5km race.

It was another excellent performance from the island athlete who won an historic bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow earlier this summer, the first ever athletics medal for the island at that level.

That performance helped to earn Mullarkey a call up to the Great Britain squad for the European Athletics Championships last month where he finished 12th in the men's 10,000m race in Birmingham, the highest placed British runner.

- Former island resident Sarah Webster represented Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the 2026 IAU 100km World Championships over the weekend.

The event took place in Ames, near Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

Unfortunately for Webster, she was one a large number of non-finishers in the women’s race.
