Kirk Michael’s Rob Fagg claimed an eighth place finish on last weekend’s Rallye International du Valais in Switzerland.
Co-driving for leading Wales driver Jason Pritchard, a three-time UK Asphalt and three-time British Historic champion, the pair were making their debut on the two-day closed roads event that formed a round of the European Rally Trophy, Swiss Rally Championship and the Alps Trophy.
Following in Jason’s father Eian’s wheel tracks, who contested the event in 2002, the pair had their NRG Team Toyota Yaris in 12th place at the end of Friday, that featured low sun and a stage in darkness.
Saturday began with a testing 31km stage that had stretches of ice and a 6km gravel section, as they broke into the top 10. And that forward progress continued to leave the team very pleased with the result.
‘What an amazing experience and to achieve such a result was a bonus,’ commented Rob. ‘Hopefully it won’t be the last time we contest the event.’
