Manx Grand Prix organisers have said they are ‘genuinely disappointed’ after a fan said he would not return to the event, claiming the meeting had become lost within the wider Festival of Motorcycling.

Fan Mike, posting on X (formerly Twitter), said 2026 had been his final Manx Grand Prix despite enjoying the people and atmosphere around the event.

He wrote: ‘2026 was my last Manx Grand Prix, I love the craic/folks I meet, however the meeting is lost, feels like it gets in the way of the Classic TT.

‘Atmosphere was non-existent, not sure folks knew there was a Manx paddock. The Manx Grand Prix is a fortnight not a two-day inconvenience.’

The Manx Motorcycle Club (MMCC), which organises the MGP, responded directly to the post.

‘We’re genuinely disappointed to read this, particularly as you say 2026 will be your last MGP,’ it said.

The club said his comments did not reflect feedback it had received or its own experience of this year’s event.

It pointed to full grandstands on race days, a busy paddock, increased MGP branding around the start and finish and Mountain Course, live-streaming of every race, its race programme and what it described as its biggest online and social media presence to date.

The MMC also rejected the suggestion that the MGP ‘gets in the way’ of the Classic TT.

The two events form part of the wider Festival of Motorcycling, sharing the Mountain Course, paddock and infrastructure, but feature different racing programmes.

The MGP opens the festival with three days of qualifying before the Classic TT gets fully underway, with this year’s MGP races held on Saturday and Monday.

The MMC said it respected Mike’s experience and invited him to get in touch privately with further feedback, adding that it would ‘genuinely like to hear more’ about his experience and what could be improved for next year.
