The King William’s College under-14, u15 and first XV rugby squads recently completed an unbeaten tour to the north east of England.

The three teams produced excellent performances and convincing victories against Yarm School at the Billingham Rugby Club.

The tour was the first one undertaken in conjunction with the school’s new ambassador for rugby, former New Zealand All Black half-back Mark Robinson who joined the Castletown school at the start of the month.

The first XV put in an impressive display with a 49-17 victory against Yarm’s first XV and all teams demonstrated an impressive combination of skill, discipline and determination.

The support between the three teams was also a particular highlight of the tour, reflecting the strong sense of community and collective pride within the college's rugby programme.

The successes on the pitch were a testament to the very extensive training that the boys put in, both in preseason and during the first few weeks of their return to the school.

The tour also provided opportunities for personal development, team-building and shared experiences beyond the classroom.

Mark Moss, King William’s College's head of rugby, said: ‘We were delighted with the boys’ unbeaten tour and it was a memorable experience for everyone involved.

'But this tour was about more than just the rugby. It also provided pupils with an opportunity to develop important qualities away from the pitch.

‘While our three teams all gave strong performances and three victories, the lasting value of the trip lies in the development, camaraderie and confidence gained by the boys throughout the tour.

‘It was also particularly pleasing to see them representing King William’s College with such enthusiasm, sportsmanship and pride, both on and off the rugby field.

‘All of us are now looking forward to the exciting fixtures that we have lined up over the next few months, and the boys are relishing the prospect of the challenges that lie ahead.’
