Isle of Man equestrian Yasmin Ingham finished sixth at the Burghley Horse Trials over the weekend.

It was the 29 year old from Greeba’s maiden appearance at the prestigious event in Lincolnshire.

Competing on 10-year-old horse Goliath du Loir (Gogo), the event is classified by the Federation Equestre Internationale as one of the seven leading three-day events in the world.

After two days of dressage, the pair were seventh, but a double clear in the final showjumping saw them move up a place to sixth.

Posting on social media on Sunday, Ingham said: ‘Genuinely nearly lost for words after the most incredible week at Burghley topped off today with Gogo jumping a mega clear to finish the week with a double clear and sixth place in his first 5*.

‘I’m feeling incredibly lucky and grateful to have had the opportunity to compete at such a historic and legendary event and it’s a privilege to be part of an event with so much history, tradition and prestige.

‘Hopefully we will be back next year.

‘Gogo took on each phase with the most honest and genuine attitude, he trusted me when maybe he wasn’t sure and overall just wanted to please.

‘I am so proud of the horse he has become, sometimes living in the shadows of his older brother Banzai and Gypsie but he made his name shine today.

Huge thank you to everyone who has helped and supported me and my team this week, especially Gogo’s owners Sue Davies Trust and Janette Chinn.’
