The Isle of Man will go to the polls on Thursday, September 24, to elect 24 Members of the House of Keys for the next five-year term.

Each of the Island’s 12 constituencies will elect two MHKs, with five candidates standing in Douglas South.

Here is a look at the candidates hoping to secure one of the two seats in the constituency.

* Dean Bolton - Change

Dean Bolton is standing for the new Change party and is a small business owner. He says his experience of running a business has given him first-hand insight into the impact of what he considers excessive regulation.

Change's wider priorities include restructuring government, ending what it describes as 'mass immigration' and replacing Manx Care.

* Claire Christian - Independent

Claire Christian, one of Douglas South's sitting MHKs, is seeking re-election after first entering the House of Keys at a by-election in 2020. She is currently Health and Social Care Minister and is standing as an independent.

Ms Christian says she is standing because she 'care deeply about Douglas South and about the future of our island', while acknowledging that although progress has been made, there is more to do.

She says practical experience, honesty about the scale of the challenges facing the Island and a determination to keep delivering will be important over the next five years.

* Arwid Hall - Independent

Arwid Hall is standing as an independent candidate in his first General Election. He is currently a commissioner for both Ramsey and Douglas and works as a Maritime Security Officer at the Sea Terminal.

He has previously announced his intention to stand in Douglas East but is now contesting Douglas South.

Mr Hall's priorities are affordable homes and lower everyday costs, better healthcare and safer communities, and controlled growth while protecting the Island's future.

* Livia Lenarduzzi - Independent

Livia Lenarduzzi is also standing as an independent candidate for the first time. She is a business owner and company director, running a restaurant and guest accommodation in the island.

She says she wants the Isle of Man to be 'the best place in the world to live, work and raise a family', while protecting what already works and focusing on practical solutions.

Ms Lenarduzzi has highlighted concerns around the cost of living, access to housing, healthcare and whether government is delivering the value and efficiency taxpayers deserve.

* Sarah Maltby - Manx Labour Party

Sarah Maltby, chair of the Manx Labour Party, is seeking a second term after being elected as one of Douglas South's MHKs in 2021.

She says serving the community and the island has been both an honour and a responsibility, and pledges to continue with what she describes as a 'common sense, people first approach'.

Ms Maltby says she has worked to remain accountable, approachable and responsive to constituents, with her priorities for the next administration including social and economic growth, education and healthcare, and housing and accessibility.
