The number of cyber threats reported to Manx authorities has more than doubled in the last year.
Police have received 423 reports of cyber threats this year compared with 189 in 2020.
Inspector Gavin Callow explained the rise was not a surprise.
He said: ’We know there’s a lot of cyber crime out there.
’The number of reports we’ve had has increased which is not surprising.
’You want to see the numbers going up as it both actively reflects what is going on and prevents it since the public don’t realise it’s happening.’
These statistics follow the island’s annual cyber security conference that took place on Tuesday of this week
CyberIsle is organised by the Isle of Man Office of Cyber Security and Information Assurance (OCSIA) which is tasked with developing the island’s resilience to cyber-crime.
