A van driver has been fined £400 for driving with no insurance.
Jaye Nicholas Martin Birchall, aged 22, of Ballalough, Andreas, admitted the offence and also had his licence endorsed with four penalty points by magistrates.
Prosecutor Rebecca Cubbon told the court that, on November 20 at 8.35pm, Birchall was stopped by police while driving a van outside Dhoon school.
He was given five days to produce insurance but checks revealed that he had not produced the documents.
Defence advocate Michael Mudge said that the offence had arisen after a miscommunication with the insurance company.
Mr Mudge said: ’The next day he has taken swift action to remedy the situation.’
The court heard that Birchall already had seven points on his licence and Mr Mudge asked magistrates to spare his client disqualification.
Birchall was also ordered to pay £50 prosecution costs.
