A father and son from Douglas have been fined £100 each for driving without a vehicle licence.
Darren Steven Finch, aged 38, of Spring Valley Road, and Tobias Darran Finch, aged 19, of Willaston Crescent, both admitted the offence and were also ordered to pay £50 prosecution costs each.
Prosecutor Rachael Braidwood told the court how Tobias Finch was spoken to by police while driving a Ford Fiesta on May 6 on the New Castletown Road in Douglas.
Expired
The vehicle’s tax had expired in February and it was registered to his father.
On June 27 police went to Darren Finch’s home and he also admitted he had driven the vehicle that day.
Defence advocate Jane Gray said: ’Tobias Finch said he purchased the vehicle last year but when he bought it he didn’t receive the log book and all the documents.
’He said he attempted to tax it but because he didn’t have all the documents he wasn’t able to.
’The vehicle was in his father’s name but being kept at the son’s residence. Tobias said he wasn’t aware it needed tax if it was just kept on the road. On this occasion his friend needed a lift from the airport.’
