A 61-year-old man who was found lying drunk on a pavement has been fined £500.
David Edward Gallimore admitted being drunk and incapable and was also banned from entering licensed premises and buying or being sold alcohol for 12 months.
When officers arrived Gallimore, who lives in Snaefell Road, Willaston, was said to be obstructing paramedics who were trying to treat him.
Police assisted and he was taken to the hospital.
The court heard that the offence put Gallimore in breach of a conditional discharge imposed for a similar offence.
Defence advocate Paul Glover asked for credit to be given for his client’s guilty plea.
’He is sorry to all involved,’ said the advocate.
’He accepts that two drunk and incapable matters in six weeks has been a stark wake-up call.
’He is going to sign up to do charity work and focus his energy in more productive ways.’
Magistrates replaced the conditional discharge with a fine of £250 and fined Gallimore another £250 for the latest offence.
He must also pay £50 prosecution costs.
He will pay the fine and costs at a rate of £10 per week deducted from benefits.
