A man from Crosby has been jailed for 10 weeks after admitting offences of resisting arrest and threatening behaviour.

Jason Craig Quayle, of Reayrt ny Chrink, also had an additional week added to his sentence as the offences were committed within the term of an early release for a previous sentence.

The case had been adjourned for six weeks for the preparation of a probation report but Quayle had refused to co-operate with probation services and asked for a different probation officer to assess him.

However, Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes refused the 20-year-old’s request and sentenced him without a probation report being prepared.

The threatening behaviour offence was said to have been committed against a 14-year-old.

During the resisting arrest Quayle was said to have spat out at police and tried to bite one officer.

Defending Quayle in court advocate Paul Rodgers said: ’He did attend two probation appointments.

’He appreciates it was wrong and would have co-operated had another adjournment been granted.’

Mr Rodgers said: ’He had been drinking and was clearly far too intoxicated. That is the root of a number of other previous offences.

’Despite that, this is a man who is in regular employment.

’There is a risk of losing that if he was given custody.

’He tells me his mother has placed him on a curfew and he has not drunk for an extensive period.’

Quayle was sentenced to 10 weeks’ custody for resisting arrest with no separate penalty made for the threatening behaviour offence.
