A man has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for committing indecent assault and attempted rape.
John Edward Corran, aged 74, appeared in Douglas Courthouse on Wednesday, April 14, before Deemster Cook.
He pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to the attempted rape of two girls and a number of indecent assaults.
The victims were girls aged between six and 12 at the time of the offences.
Police have worked with the Attorney General’s Chambers and the charity Victim Support to support the victims through the investigation and court process, and said that they will continue to do so in the coming months.
In a statement police said: ’The Police Public Protection Unit continues to work tirelessly to investigate disclosures of sexual abuse, supporting both adult and child victims of recent and historic sexual offending.
’The unit encourages anyone who seeks advice, or wishes to speak with a member of this team about sexual offences, to contact them via the police switchboard on 631212.’
