A man has admitted driving while under the influence of drugs and while he was disqualified.

Craig Jack Anderson, aged 26, also pleaded guilty to driving without insurance and will be sentenced at the Court of General Gaol Delivery on a date to be set.

Prosecuting advocate Roger Kane told the court that police saw Anderson driving a Peugeot near the Queen Elizabeth II High School in Peel on December 5 at 12.15am.

He was said to be swerving so police stopped him.

There was said to be a strong smell of cannabis coming from the car and Anderson’s speech was described as slurred.

After being arrested and taken to police headquarters a blood sample was taken for analysis.

The results showed the presence of cannabis, ketamine and benzodiazepine but only the ketamine was said to have exceeded the UK legal limit, which is used for guidance here.

Anderson, who lives in Carlton Court, Ramsey, was also said to have been banned from driving with his ban not ending until Christmas Day 2020.

The court heard that been previously jailed for 70 days for disqualified driving in 2019.

Mr Kane submitted that the case should go to the higher court for sentencing.

Magistrates agreed and declined jurisdiction.

Anderson will make his first appearance at the Court of General Gaol Delivery on June 18.

Bail continues with a condition to contact probation so that a probation report can be prepared before sentencing.
