A 27-year-old woman has admitted money laundering and drug-related offences.

Lesley Watterson, of King William’s Terrace, Castletown, pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis with intent to supply and possession of criminal property, namely £5,030 in cash.

Prosecuting advocate Hazel Carroon told the High Bailiff that police executed a search warrant at Watterson’s home on April 19.

Watterson was at home with her two children and when asked if any drugs were present she told officers: ’It’s in the bathroom.’

Cannabis weighing 145.7 grams was found, valued at £2,914.

Three other additional amounts of the drug were also found on the premises weighing a total of 25.1 grams, valued at £502.

The court heard that she has no previous convictions.

Defence advocate David Clegg said that the case was on the cusp when it came to deciding whether it should be committed to the higher court for sentencing.

High Bailiff Jayne Hughes declined jurisdiction, saying that the combination of offences meant that it should go to the Court of General Gaol Delivery, which can impose longer sentences.

Watterson will appear there on September 18.

Bail was granted in the sum of £500 with conditions that she live at her home address, contact probation, and not leave the island without court permission.
