Police are appealing for assistance after burglaries in the island over the past few weeks.

Officers from CID and the Central Neighbourhood Policing Team are investigating two burglaries that have occurred at properties in Peel and Greeba in the last three to four weeks.

Both properties were unoccupied at the time and the incidents were only recently discovered by the owners.

During the burglary at Peel a distinctive brass seafarers boats compass was stolen along with a quantity of alcohol and stolen from the Greeba property were a number of distinctive Shebeg Pottery pieces.

A police spokesman said: ’Officers are keen to speak with anyone that has information in relation to the burglaries or have any knowledge of the whereabouts of the stolen property.

’Officers would also like to remind the public to report any suspicious activity they may see and remind property owners to ensure any unoccupied properties are secure and regularly checked.

’Despite recent travel restrictions imposed, there are still a minority of opportunistic offenders that are prepared to exploit vulnerable, secluded or insecure properties for their own criminal gain.’

Anyone who can assist with the investigations is asked to contact DC Steve Gorry on 631301 or alternatively contact Isle of Man Crimestoppers on 0800555111 where any information passed can be handled and disseminated anonymously.
