A long-serving police officer has been suspended while criminal allegations against him are investigated.

The officer, who has served with the Manx force for more than 20 years, was suspended on September 13.

He has been bailed by police to next week when he is due to be questioned over the allegations made against him.

The Manx Independent understands that one of the allegations relates to suspected misappropriation of police equipment.

The officer, who has not been named, is also due to answer allegations relating to a separate suspected serious criminal offence.

A police spokesman confirmed: ’The Isle of Man Constabulary are investigating suspected criminal matters involving a serving police officer who is currently suspended.

’As this is a criminal investigation no further comment can be made at this time.’
