The first episode of the documentary filmed at Jurby prison was removed from ITV’s online Hub for re-editing.
Episode one of The Best Little Prison in Britain? was available online after it was broadcast on July 31 but later disappeared.
An amended version of the episode has now been made available online.
It is understood that the episode was pulled to remove shots of one individual so as not to potentially prejudice any legal proceedings.
An ITV spokesman told the Manx Independent: ’One episode of this series was temporarily removed from the ITV Hub for re-editing for legal reasons, but it has now returned.
The first epsiode showed Ian Goldsmith as he stood trial and was convicted for unlawful wounding and prepared to launch his appeal against his sentence, which he did win and had his prison sentence cut.
The Manx Independent contacted the Cabinet Office to ask if it knew of any reason it may have been removed and were told it didn’t.
However, we were also informed the government had ’no editorial control’ over the series, which has been mocked online and led to accusations of making ’stars’ of the criminals shown on screen.
The third episode aired on ITV last night (Wednesday) after the Manx Independent went to print.
Pictured right is prison governor Bob McColm, deputy governor Leroy Bonnick and head of security Margo Cain, who all feature in the six-part series showing life behind bars at Isle of Man prison.
