A teenager who was involved in a police chase as she rode away from them on a moped has been fined £150.
Lisa McGhee, of Ashbourne Grove, Douglas, was also ordered to pay £50 prosecution costs by magistrates.
Prosecuting advocate James Robinson told the court how police received a call from 19-year-old McGhee on January 7 in the evening in which she told them she was going to jump off Douglas Head.
When officers arrived they found her sitting on a moped but as they pulled alongside to speak to her she pulled off at speed.
Police followed with their lights and siren on but McGhee still didn’t stop.
They followed at a safe distance until McGhee mounted a pavement and drove through a pedestrian alleyway.
She was later found at her home address and taken into custody due to concerns for her welfare.
Defence advocate Kate Alexander said that McGhee had said that she was not aware of the police lights and siren at Douglas Head but admitted she became aware of them later in the chase.
She said that she didn’t want to stop because she wanted to get home to call the crisis referral team.
Magistrates ordered McGhee to pay the fine and costs at a rate of £10 per week deducted from benefits.
