A teenager found with £300 of cocaine has been sentenced to community service.
Rui Pedro Tavares Cardoso, of Cronk Avenue, Onchan, admitted cocaine possession.
Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes sentenced the 19-year-old to 100 hours of community service.
The court heard that, on December 14, Cardoso was in the Courthouse nightclub but went outside for a cigarette.
He then went into Shaw’s Brow car park with another person but was stopped by police as he left the car park.
Police found three grams of the drug on him.
A probation report said that Cardoso said he had the drug for use at a party he intended to go to later in the evening.
Cardoso said that he had been working at a contact centre but had since lost his job due to the court case.
He told probation that the cocaine was a ’one-off purchase’ to use over the festive period and that he was not a regular user.
The teenager was also ordered to pay £125 prosecution costs.
