A teenager who urinated on a bin outside McDonald’s in broad daylight has been given a conditional discharge.
Callum Ryan Ivan Bratty admitted being found drunk in a public place as well as possessing ketamine.
Prosecuting advocate Hazel Carroon told the court that police were called to McDonald’s on August 9 at 11.18am after a report of a drunk man urinating against a bin.
Bratty was found still at the scene with another man and when told of the allegation said: ’Oh that’s me.’
The 19-year-old was said to be smelling of alcohol and having glazed eyes.
The bin was said to be around 30 metres from the restaurant with it being a clear day and there being families present.
When interviewed he gave ’no comment’ responses.
Police also found 0.85 grams of class ’C’ drug ketamine on Bratty, who lives in Derby Road, Douglas, valued at between £34 and £42.
Defence advocate Paul Rodgers said that his client had no previous convictions and was very embarrassed.
’He realised he was intoxicated and didn’t want to go into the restaurant in that state,’ said the advocate.
Mr Rodgers said that Bratty was studying an IT-related course at University College Isle of Man.
’Twelve hours in the cells was a very sobering experience,’ said Mr Rodgers.
Magistrates sentenced the teenager to a 12-month conditional discharge.
