Police believe a 12-year-old boy made the bomb hoax call that ended up closing Willaston School yesterday.

Pupils and staff were evacuated to the Isle of Man College and an area surrounding the school was cordoned off.

Police asked parents to collect their children from the school staff.

The police said that the 12-year-old was being interviewed but could not be named because of his age.

Isle of Man Newspapers’ policy is to not report bomb hoaxes, to avoid copycat incidents.

However, after the police issued a public statement about this, we have suspended that policy in this instance.
