Specialist teams from the Royal Navy have removed two wartime shells found in a back garden at Willaston.

Fenella Avenue has reopened following the removal of the ordnance that was found on Monday during renovation works at the property.

Police said there had been no risk to the public.

Civil Defence teams assisted with police in guarding the scene overnight until the Royal Navy team arrived yesterday (Tuesday).
