A Ramsey woman has admitted driving while she was more than three times over the drink-drive limit.

Charlotte Ann Pattison, of Royal Park, will be sentenced on January 10 after a probation report has been completed.

The 32-year-old failed a breathalyser test with a reading of 110 - the legal limit is 35.

Prosecutor Rachael Braidwood told the court how, on November 20 at 8.30pm, a member of the public went to Ramsey police station and reported following a Volkswagen being driven badly.

The witness described Pattison as ’speeding up and slowing down’ and ’swerving’ as she drove. They said they had beeped their horn at her and she had pulled over on May Hill in Ramsey.

The witness said they pulled alongside and spoke to Pattison but she just stared back and was silent.

Police went to Pattison’s home where she was said to have appeared intoxicated.

At 8.45pm she was arrested and taken to police headquarters where she failed the breathalyser test.

When interviewed she told police she had bought two bottles of wine that day.

Pattison said she had driven to an appointment at 7pm then left to go home at 7.50pm. She claimed she got home at 8.20pm and had then drunk one of the bottles of wine before police arrived.

However, Pattison’s mother told police her daughter was ’wobbly’ and ’staggering’ when she arrived home at 8.20pm.

She said her daughter had not drunk when she arrived home and said she had found two bottles of wine in the car, one empty and one full.

Advocate Paul Glover asked for a probation report due to the high reading.

Magistrates ordered the report consider all sentencing options including custody. Bail was granted in the sum of £500 with a condition not to drive.
