A woman has admitted an assault at a nightclub after attacking her victim, throwing her to the floor and hitting her.

Alexandra Ross, aged 24, of Marina Road, Douglas, went for the woman after she saw her talking to her boyfriend.

After pleading guilty to common assault a second charge of being drunk and disorderly was withdrawn.

Magistrates ordered a probation report to be completed before sentencing.

Prosecuting advocate Barry Swain said: ’This is again a case where a little bit too much drink is involved.’

Mr Swain told the court how the victim was downstairs in the Bordello nightclub in Douglas on April 30 at 1.30am talking to Ross’s boyfriend.

Ross saw them talking and was said to have run at the woman, throwing her onto the floor, straddling her and hitting her about the head a number of times.

Door staff pulled her off and she was ejected from the club but continued to remonstrate with her partner.

When police arrived, Ross was found on Loch promenade and said to be slurring her words and drunk.

After being arrested, during a police interview she said she could remember being on the floor with the woman but could not remember how it started.

Defence advocate Peter Taylor asked for credit to be given for his client’s guilty plea and remorse.

Magistrates adjourned sentencing until June 24.

Bail continues in the sum of £500 with conditions to live at her home address and contact probation.
