The met office has issued an amber weather warning, particularly around high tide overnight into Wednesday.
The warning comes into affect from 9.30pm tonight and will be in place until about 2pm on Wednesday afternoon.
Strong south westerly winds will cause rough roughs to break over along windward coastal roads and footpaths at high tide, about 11.30pm tonight.
However, it will be worse tomorrow morning with high tide set for about 11.50am.
Tomorrow’s high tide will also bring with it the slight risk of flooding in lowest lying inner harbour areas just before midday.
Further in the week, high tides and strong winds on Thursday and Friday will cause coastal overtopping.
The areas most likely to be affected are Shore Road in Rushen and Gansey, Port St. Mary, Castletown promenade, Laxey promenade and the central to northern end of Douglas promenade.
