Applications for the esteemed King’s Awards for Enterprise 2027 have now opened.
The awards recognise outstanding achievement by UK businesses (including those in the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man) and are among the most prestigious for business success.
For the 2027 awards, there are five categories:
- International Trade
- Innovation
- Sustainability
- Promoting Opportunity through Social Mobility
- Young Founder
A spokesperson for the awards scheme said: ‘The introduction of the Young Founder category reflects a commitment to recognising the achievements of emerging entrepreneurs aged 18 to 30, whilst the renamed “Sustainability” category highlights the importance of holistic and forward-thinking approaches to responsible business practice.
‘The application process has also been refined, with clearer guidance and fewer questions, making it more accessible for businesses to apply.’
Businesses that receive an award are:
- invited to a Royal reception
- presented with the award at their company by one of The King’s representatives
- able to fly The King’s Awards flag at their main office and use the emblem on their marketing materials
- granted an official certificate and commemorative crystal trophy
The awards are valid for five years.
The application process closes on September 8.
His Excellency, the Lieutenant Governor Sir John Lorimer, said: ‘The King’s Awards for Enterprise continue to shine a light on the remarkable talent, ambition and innovation within our business community.
‘I would strongly encourage eligible Isle of Man businesses to consider applying this year, particularly with the introduction of new categories that recognise emerging entrepreneurs and evolving approaches to sustainability.
‘These awards provide a valuable opportunity to celebrate success and to showcase the island’s enterprise on a wider stage.’
The government’s Department for Enterprise and the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce are also encouraging local businesses to apply.
Minister for Enterprise Tim Johnston said: ‘The King’s Awards for Enterprise represent one of the most prestigious forms of recognition for UK businesses, and we know that many companies here in the island are more than capable of competing at that level.
‘The introduction of the Young Founder category, alongside enhancements to the application process, makes this an even more accessible and inclusive programme.
‘I would encourage businesses of all sizes and sectors to take a closer look and consider putting themselves forward.’
Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce chief executive Rebecca George added: ‘The business community in the Isle of Man is dynamic, resilient and full of innovation, and the King’s Awards for Enterprise offer an outstanding platform to highlight those strengths internationally.
‘With the addition of the Young Founder category and a renewed focus on sustainability, there has never been a better time for businesses to get involved.
‘We would strongly encourage our members and the wider community to take advantage of this opportunity to gain recognition and further their growth ambitions.’
