A record entry of participants took part in the Harbour2Harbour Walk.

A total of 691 people and more than 40 dogs entered, making this year’s the biggest in the event’s history.

Starting on Port Erin Promenade, walkers followed a nine-mile route along the coastline to Castletown Square. T

ere was also a second start in Port St Mary for those who preferred a shorter, flatter walk.

It raised all-important funds for three charities; Southern Community Initiatives, Men in Sheds and SPort Erin.

The final total is still being calculated, but organisers say that more than £7,000 has already been collected.

Event co-ordinator Janet Bridle said: ’I was very impressed with the number of young people who joined in the walk - some as young as six years old. Nine miles is no mean feat for most, never mind those who have such little legs! I was delighted to see so many families, young and old, getting into the spirit of the event and enjoying each other’s company along the way.’

The event was sponsored by property developer Dandara.
