Two students are hosting an Arabian Night-themed event at the Salmon Lake Centre in Laxey on March 10 to raise funds for Manx Breast Cancer Support.

Pippa Cox and Sophie Stoutt are both in their second year at University College Isle of Man, studying for degrees in events management and marketing. Together they have founded Trinity Events which is organising the evening.

They promise a full night of entertainment with a difference, including burlesque dancers, henna tattoos, raffle, music and a buffet meal.

Pippa said: ’We knew we wanted to do an event that hadn’t been done on the island before, something that would stand out and make a difference to a local charity.

’I have visited Morocco and Tunisia many times and fell in love with the vibrant culture of the countries, so I’m really excited to do an Arabian Night event.’

Sophie explained that the choice of charity was ’â?¦due to our own personal associations with those affected by breast cancer, as well as ensuring that the funds we raised stayed on the island’.

Manx Breast Cancer Support Group, formed in 2012 has raised money to build the Manx Breast Unit at Noble’s Hospital and provide Quiet Rooms at Isle of Man and Liverpool airports for people travelling to the UK for treatment on the patient transfer service.

The technology for combating breast cancer is continually evolving and Manx Breast Cancer Support Group is always looking for new ways to ensure that patients on the island have the best chance of beating the disease.

The group is currently fundraising for a gamma probe, which will enable some patients to stay on island to receive treatment.

Sophie continued: ’We felt this is a really worthy charity and they work so hard to raise funds for local cancer patients, so we wanted to do everything we could to help them.’

Carole Male, vice chairman of Manx Breast Cancer Support Group said: ’We are proud and happy that Pippa and Sophie have chosen our charity to support with their Arabian event.

’They’ve chosen to do an unusual event with a very different theme and the tickets are selling fast and it’s been great working with them.

’All the money raised by our events stays on the Isle of Man to help cancer patients.’

The Arabian Night event will run from 6.30pm until 11.30pm.

Tickets, priced at £30, include the meal, entertainment and a welcoming drink. Tickets can be purchased from the Trinity Events website at www.trinityeventsiom.org
