Arbory Women’s Institute president Katherine Corkish this week welcomed the members back after a six-month break for their first official meeting.

Forthcoming events which were discussed, including a MacMillan Cancer Support coffee and cakes event on Friday, September 25, in Colby Methodist Church Hall.

The speaker was Audrey Humphries, also a member, who talked about hang gliding and paragliding.

She had been a diet consultant and an accountant but eventually she and her husband moved to North Wales where they opened a paragliding school which attracted enthusiasts from nearby conurbations like Liverpool.

They also set up a shop in the village where they lived, selling paragliding equipment.

Arbory WI’s next meeting will be held on Thursday, October 8, in Colby Methodist Church Hall at 7.15 p.m.
