’It was a long way to come, but it has been worth it,’ said Barbara Dickson, due to the fantastic reaction she received from the sold-out crowd who came to see her latest show in the Isle of Man on Tuesday evening.

Barbara, at the age of 71, performing a full two hour-plus concert at the packed-out Gaiety Theatre, sounded as powerful and as energetic as ever.

She predominantly performed a set of haunting folk songs, that showed where her roots lie.

We were also treated to some of her biggest hits, including ’The Caravan Song’ and ’January February’, taken from her enormous back catalogue of songs, as well as one or two pieces from some of the famous musicals she has starred in.

With a band comprising four talented musicians, who diversely played traditional instruments and synthesisers, Barbara Dickson came across endearingly.

She regaled the audiences with stories of her early days spent performing alongside Gerry Rafferty, and told of how she tries to tour every couple of years.

With her career now spanning many decades, she still clearly displays all of the charm that has made her a musical sensation.
