Police are warning of dangerous driving conditions this morning.

Gritters have been out overnight on the Mountain Road and are returning now.

A police spokesman said: "Watch your speed and please take care driving on ALL roads this morning, particularly untreated ones."

The force has dealt with an accident on St George’s Bridge in Abbeylands, Onchan, which officers described as "very icy".

Today will be cloudy with the odd passing shower at first, before outbreaks of rain develop from around lunchtime. Top temperature around 8°C as the wind turns to the southeast and becomes strong.

The rain will become persistent and heavy later this afternoon and into this evening, as the southeast wind increases further becoming strong to gale force with gusts quite widely of 40-50 mph this evening but up to 55 mph in more exposed spots. The rain will clear during the early hours of tomorrow morning as the wind turns to the south and eases slightly. Minimum temperature near to 6°C.

Dry at first tomorrow but rather cloudy, with heavy rain moving in from the south during the afternoon. Still quite breezy with a fresh to strong south-easterly wind with temperatures reaching up to 10°C at best.

Friday will be cloudy with spells of rain which will often turn heavy. Highest temperature around 9°C as the light to moderate wind settles to the west or southwest.
