Beach Buddies’ last volunteer beach cleaning event of the year will be held at Derbyhaven, starting at 10.30am.
Organisers are asking volunteers are asked to park with courtesy for the residents in Derbyhaven.
The event finishes no later than 12 noon.
Beach Buddies’ founder Bill Dale said: ’We reached 10,000 different volunteers during the year, and we’re not far off 11,000, which looks like being achieved very early in 2019.
’We’ve also had Royal, international, Unesco, Tynwald and local recognition for our achievements. What a great year!’
He added that increased engagement with all the island’s schools had been rewarding.
That was made possible by an anonymous donation earlier this year.
Mr Dale said; ’It has enabled us to speak to more children and arrange more beach cleaning events for schools than ever before.’
Beach Buddies, which is sponsored by FIM Capital, removes rubbish from beaches and now elsewhere in the island.
Mr Dale said: There are still some problems, and we are still finding lots of fast food containers, plastic bottles and tin cans, but we have "a cunning plan" to try to address this during 2019.’
