Residents in Port St Mary face continued disruption as Beach Road will be closed for work on the water mains replacement and road resurfacing until March 1.

The closure applies to the road between the property Tramman and where it meets the shore.

However, there is some reprieve as the road will be open over the festive period, from December 23 to January 5 (inclusive).

The scheme was meant to finish on December 31, but there were delays to the start because of the one-way closure of Shore Road.

Road resurfacing is also being carried out.

A Manx Utilities spokesman said: ’The water main is prone to bursts and therefore the opportunity has been taken to replace it prior to the DoI planned resurfacing work for the road.

’There are 800 metres of main to be replaced in addition to some 30 service connections. Both Manx Utilities and DoI work is estimated to be completed by March 1 2019.

’Both Manx Utilities and DoI would like to thank everyone affected by this project and for their patience and understanding whilst it is completed.’
