The annual Beaver Scouts’ ten pin bowling competition was held at the bowling alley in Ramsey.
For some Beavers it was their first experience of ten pin bowling and for several Beavers it was the first time they had to bowl without the aid of the chutes.
This all led to some very interesting bowling techniques, organisers say.
The competition took place over a couple of hours to enable as many Beavers as possible to take part.
As there were different numbers of participants from each Colony, to decide the winner, the average score for each colony was calculated.
First Laxey achieved the best average score of 69.5 They were presented with the winners’ bowling shield and Bowling Pin at their Colony’s Christmas party.
There were also trophies for the highest scoring Beavers.
Harry Tummon, of 1st Douglas Buggane, scored 92 which was the highest score of all the Beavers.
He won the trophy for the highest individual score for a Beaver aged under 7. The 7 and over trophy was won by Jack Batty of Onchan Thursday with a score of 90. Harry and Jack were presented with their trophies at their colony meetings.
