Young music scholars and future rockstars got the chance to have a closer look at the goings-on on stage during a full concert.

The 11-piece soul and funk band Retrospect gave the young students from the Rock Project, aged between seven and 18 years old, along with the members of the Ballacottier School choir, a closer look at how a band operates before and during a concert and gave some of the students a chance to join them on stage and hear through the on-stage monitors.

Retrospect were gearing up to play a sold-out show at the Peel Centenary Centre on Saturday and invited the kids and students down on the Friday night before hand to hear them soundcheck.

After the talk, Retrospect treated the kids to a short concert.

Dave Rowles, the organiser of the Rock Project Isle of Man, said that the event would prove invaluable to the students.

’The night was a great opportunity to hear the how the instruments in the band work together in the company of a professional band,’ said Dave.

’We often don’t get to hear what goes into making the full sound of a band and it great to break it down and see how it all fits together.’
